Restoring Confident Smiles

A friendly guide to modern dentures

If you are missing several teeth — or a full arch — dentures are still one of the most reliable, affordable ways to eat, speak and smile with confidence. Today’s are custom-crafted to match your facial features and bite, and they look far more natural than the “false teeth” of previous generations.

Below you’ll find honest answers to the questions patients ask most: what they cost, which type fits your situation, how long they last, whether they hurt, and how to keep them comfortable for years. When you’re ready for a personal recommendation, our Milpitas dentures page walks through treatment in more detail, or you can contact the office to schedule.

Care is led by Dr. Gaganjot Khera, DDS — named America’s Best Dentist in 2024, 2025 and 2026 — using digital scanning and Pearl AI diagnostics for precise, comfortable results.

Denture Types

Which kind of denture is right for you?

There is no single “best” denture — the right choice depends on how many teeth are missing, your jawbone health, your goals and your budget. Here are the four options we fit most often at our Milpitas office.

Full / Complete

Full Dentures

Replace an entire upper or lower arch when all the teeth in that jaw are gone. Held by natural suction and a snug, custom fit over your gums.

Partial

Partial Dentures

For when you still have healthy natural teeth. Discreet clasps or precision attachments anchor the partial and keep neighboring teeth from shifting.

Immediate

Immediate Dentures

Made in advance and placed the same day teeth are removed, so you’re never without a smile. Expect a permanent reline once your gums finish healing.

Implant-Supported

Implant-Supported

Snap securely onto dental implants for a stable bite that won’t slip — and help slow the jawbone loss that follows tooth loss.

What to Expect

How your dentures are made

Custom dentures are a step-by-step process built around your comfort and a precise fit — most cases take a few weeks from first visit to final delivery.

Consult & Exam

A gentle exam and digital X-rays assess your gums, jawbone and any teeth that need attention first.

Digital Impressions

Precise scans and impressions capture the exact shape of your mouth to build a natural-looking, comfortable denture.

Fitting & Try-In

We check the shade, shape and bite, fine-tuning the look and feel until the smile is right for you.

Delivery & Adjust

Your denture is placed, and short follow-ups smooth out any pressure points as your mouth settles in.

Cost & Financing

Affordable dentures, made simple

Every set is custom-made, so your exact price depends on the type, materials and any preparatory care such as extractions. As a general guide, conventional full or partial dentures typically run about $1,800–$3,500 per arch; implant-supported options cost more but last longer and feel more stable.

We keep treatment within reach with 0% and interest-free plans through Cherry and CareCredit, and we’ll help you maximize your dental insurance benefits.

Denture Care

Keeping your dentures fresh & comfortable

A simple daily routine protects both your new teeth and the healthy gum tissue underneath. Here’s what to do — and what to avoid.

Do

  • Rinse after every meal to clear food and debris.
  • Brush daily with a soft denture brush and cleanser.
  • Soak overnight so they stay moist and keep their shape.
  • Clean your gums, tongue and palate each morning.
  • See us yearly for a fit check and professional clean.

Avoid

  • Hot or boiling water — it warps the fit permanently.
  • Regular toothpaste — it’s abrasive and scratches.
  • Bleach or harsh chemicals that weaken the material.
  • Wearing them 24/7 — your gums need nightly rest.
  • DIY glue repairs — see us for a proper denture repair.
Frequently Asked Questions

Dentures FAQ

The answers patients search for most, from our Milpitas office. Have a question we haven’t covered? Call (408) 946-0777.

How much do dentures cost in Milpitas?

Because every denture is custom-made, cost depends on the type, the materials and any preparatory work such as extractions. As a general guide, conventional full or partial dentures typically run about $1,800 to $3,500 per arch, while implant-supported dentures cost more up front and last longer.

You’ll receive a clear treatment plan and estimate at your consultation. We also offer 0% financing through Cherry and CareCredit and help verify your insurance benefits.

What types of dentures are available?

We fit four main options: full (complete) dentures for a whole arch, partial dentures when some natural teeth remain, immediate dentures placed the same day teeth are removed, and implant-supported dentures that snap onto dental implants for extra stability.

The best choice depends on how many teeth are missing, your jawbone health and your goals. We’ll walk through the trade-offs together at your visit.

How long do dentures last?

With good care, most full and partial dentures last about five to ten years. Over time your gums and jawbone naturally change shape, so a denture may need relining to restore a snug fit before it needs full replacement.

Implant-supported dentures tend to last longer. Yearly checkups let us catch fit issues early and extend the life of your denture.

Do dentures hurt, and how long is the adjustment period?

New dentures can cause minor soreness or a few pressure spots during the first few weeks as your mouth adapts. This is normal and temporary — we schedule quick follow-up adjustments to relieve any tender areas.

Speaking and eating also take a little practice at first. Most patients feel comfortable within a few weeks, and sore spots should never be something you simply live with — just call us for an adjustment.

Can I have teeth extracted and get dentures the same day?

Yes. Immediate dentures are made in advance and placed the same day your teeth are removed, so you’re never without a smile during healing. It’s a popular choice for exactly that reason.

Because gums shrink as they heal over the next three to six months, immediate dentures usually need a reline — or sometimes a final conventional denture — once your mouth has settled. We’ll explain the timeline before any extractions.

How do I clean and care for my dentures?

Rinse your dentures after meals, brush them once a day with a soft denture brush and a non-abrasive cleanser, and soak them overnight so they stay moist. Clean your gums, tongue and palate each morning too.

Avoid hot water, regular toothpaste, bleach and sleeping in your dentures — these can warp, scratch or irritate. If a denture cracks or breaks, skip the household glue and let us handle the repair.

What are implant-supported dentures, and are they better?

Implant-supported dentures clip onto a few dental implants placed in the jaw. They stay firmly in place while eating and speaking, feel more like natural teeth, and help slow the jawbone loss that happens after teeth are lost.

They cost more than traditional removable dentures and require healthy gums and adequate bone, so they aren’t right for everyone. A short consultation and 3D imaging tell us whether you’re a candidate.

Does dental insurance cover dentures?

Many PPO dental plans cover a portion of dentures as a major restorative service, though coverage limits and waiting periods vary by plan. We’re in-network with many major carriers and will verify your specific benefits before treatment.

Whatever your plan covers, our team helps you understand your out-of-pocket cost up front, and financing is available to spread payments comfortably.
